Topological and conformal field theory as Frobenius algebras

A two-dimensional topological field theory can be defined as a functor from a category Cob of two-dimensional cobordisms to the category of vector spaces. It is known that such functors are in one-to-one correspondence to certain Frobenius algebras.
If one replaces the target category by a more general (modular) braided tensor category $C$, a functor from Cob to $C$ is in turn related to certain Frobenius algebras in $C$. The latter can be seen to describe two-dimensional conformal, rather than topological, field theories.
